Feeling Resistance? Here’s a Softer Way to Stay Consistent

Resistance.
It has a way of showing up just when things are starting to feel good—when you’re making changes, creating new rhythms, and reaching for a better version of yourself.
You lay out a plan with clarity and motivation. You feel hopeful. You know the actions you’re taking will lead to something good.
And then—seemingly out of nowhere—resistance creeps in.
Maybe you wake up and feel like throwing the plan out the window. Maybe something small derails your whole routine. Before you follow that impulse, I invite you to pause.
What is this resistance?
What is it trying to protect?
What is it afraid of?
This happened to me just last night. I had set up my bedtime routine for the week, ready to support deeper rest. But by the end of the day, I was so exhausted. All I wanted was to crawl straight into bed. My body was pleading for rest—and yet, I had also promised myself some gentle yoga before sleep.
I felt the tug-of-war: my body toward the bed, my mind toward the mat.
Instead of forcing one over the other, I chose a middle path. I honored my exhaustion—and my commitment—by shortening my yoga to just five minutes. I set a timer, moved the way my body wanted to move, and allowed tension to release.
The result? A deeper rest. A sense of integrity. And a reminder that consistency doesn’t have to be rigid—it just has to be kind.
So the next time resistance shows up for you, ask:
✨ How can I make this easier?
✨ How can I honor both what I feel and what I value?
There is wisdom in resistance, and there is power in meeting it gently.
I’d love to hear how resistance shows up for you—and what small shifts help you stay in integrity with yourself. Hit reply and let me know what’s working (or not!) in your routines right now. Let’s grow through this together.
With care,
