My Body was Crying - What I Did..

Do you sense when your body cries?
Do you tend to it like a doting mother —or abandon yourself for the sake of the never-ending to-do list?
Have you ever felt like you were on the verge of getting sick and pushed through anyway?
So have I.
I pushed through because that’s the American way:keep going, going, going — prove your worth through productivity.Until eventually your body has had enough and leaves you flat on your back, unable to move, disconnected from everything — even the birds — wondering when the heck you’ll feel better.
I was a master at this in my 20s.
${contact.name.first}, I remember living in Sweden, watching my Swedish boyfriend call in sick at the first feeling of illness. I was shocked. It stopped me in my tracks. That’s when I realized… wow, the American way is kind of crazy.
This past week has been a flu-filled one for me — Kleenex, cough drops, fever, Throat Coat tea, broth, and lots of sleep. I made the decision to take the entire week off to truly heal, and wow… it has been so good.
In the stillness, I’ve had time to reflect, journal deeply, and love on myself in ways I didn’t realize I needed. So much so that I’m seeing just how worn out I actually am.
In the spirit of continuing to truly supporting myself, I’ll be taking a couple of weeks off from newsletters and social media to continue resting — especially as I begin seeing clients again next week. I’m honoring my body’s cry for more rest and choosing to work less in the coming weeks.
Today — and for the next few weeks — I’m choosing ease.
It’s so easy to keep choosing chaos because it’s the norm. Breaking out of chaos and into ease can feel like an act of Congress. It goes against the grain — and yet, it’s so worth it for the quality of your life and your health.
So I’m curious…
In what ways are you choosing ease right now?
Where are you going against the grain and choosing yourself and your health today?
I’d truly love to know. Hit reply and tell me.
I’ll see you all revived in a couple of weeks 💛
With Love,
Catherine
