This Is Your Sign to Take a Break

Has life felt like a non-stop whirlwind lately? Like you’re just swimming from one task to the next, barely catching your breath?

Since moving to Santa Fe, I’ve felt like I’ve been swimming—caught in a current of “shoulds.” What I should be doing to build my business. How quickly I should be moving. This push-push-push mentality is everywhere, baked into the culture we live in. And honestly... I’m tired of it. Aren’t you?

Taking a rest, for me, is like finally reaching the edge of the pool and holding on for a moment. You’re still in the water, but you’re no longer struggling to stay afloat. There’s breath, there’s presence, and a different kind of strength in letting yourself pause.

So, I’m giving myself a well-deserved break. I’m heading to a 10-day Vipassana—yes, a full silent retreat. No phone. No tasks. Just space. Space to sit, to breathe, to clean out the mental clutter and return to myself.

And here’s why I’m telling you this: I hope you’ll give yourself permission to take a break, too.

Even if it’s just a day. Or two. Or ten.Take this blog as your personal permission slip to pause. To rest. To reset. Maybe it looks like a solo hike. A tech-free weekend. A quiet Airbnb stay or one night under the stars in a tent. Whatever your version of “holding onto the side of the pool” looks like—please, do that for yourself.

Because rest isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity. And when we give ourselves that time, we come back clearer, stronger, and more aligned with who we truly are.

I’ll be offline and off-grid until August 19. When I return, I hope to feel grounded and renewed—and I hope you do too.

With love and deep care,

Catherine

P.S. If you've been taxiing the kids, juggling all the BBQs, or pushing hard to meet deadlines… take this as your cue. Step away, even just a little. You deserve that breath. ❤️
