Words Of Wisdom From a Lakota Elder

There is wisdom in the land.  Are you present with it?

With all the media, news and politics it can get us into a frenzy of thoughts of the future.  It can bring us out of the present and into worries and stress - which wreaks havoc on our health, if we allow it to take over for an extended period of time.

This is your reminder to give yourself breaks.

Hilary Giovale, author of A Good Relative, shared this relative information in an email and I feel pulled to share it with you.  These guidelines of how to get through these times comes from a revered Lakota elder, Basil Braveheart.

  • Now is the time to invest in our relationships with Mother Earth and each other.  Turn off the news and refocus on what's most important.

  • Our elections are run by dark money and misinformation.  Don't let these results get baked into your mind.

  • We may see civil unrest.  It's OK to be frightened, but we can't let that fear define us.  We need to embody courage.

  • Remember that everything is related and connected.  Practice deep gratitude every day, as often as needed.

  • Energy vampires thrive on negative energy.  Don't feed them.  Refocus your attention on something else.

  • Now is the time to prioritize our relationship with the Divine.  Very difficult things have already happened to Indigenous Peoples, but their spirituality has helped them survive.

  • This toxic energy cannot cannot cripple love, shatter hope, corrode faith, destroy peace, silence courage, invade the soul, conquer the spirit, suppress memories, or kill friendship.

  • Feel the sensation of unplugging from the toxic energy and say a prayer to let go.  Consciously plug yourself to another energy source and pray to stay grounded.

These words hit true to my heart and I hope they do too.

Which ones hit the truest for you? I would love to know!
